They lost their able active young generations being killed or disabled in fighting. Also China, at that time, was a very poor country being in internal strife; lazy and happy-going citizens. Now compare them with ours. We are taken as a developing (a sarcastic attribute, meaning ‘gain health by a diseased person). They are developed, rather super developed, nations. But we are almost beggars. We are bound to beg or buy a Nail cutter, a safety pin, children’s Toys or Minor computer spares. More shameful that we depend on them for strategic weapons.
