VOTERS (INDIAN) BE ALERT    Are you aware that in 1947 When we got independence, Germany and Japan were the poorest countries in the world, being vanquished in World war II. They lost their able active young generations being killed or disabled in fighting. Also China, at that time, was a very poor country being in internal strife; lazy and happy-going citizens. Now compare them with ours. We are taken as a developing (a sarcastic attribute, meaning ‘gain health by a diseased person). They are developed, rather super developed, nations. But we are almost beggars. We are bound to beg or buy a Nail cutter, a safety pin, children’s Toys or Minor computer spares. More shameful that we depend on them for strategic weapons. Yet, not much attention has been paid to some finer points regarding its use. There has been, and can be, a lot of embarrassment while hoisting our tri-color because there is no definite indicator on the body of the flag to show which color (green or saffron) should appear at the top. Why not a dove flying or a royal Bengal Tiger posing or the Ashok pillar in place of wheel to show the right way to position our national flag Assessment made in different classes of matriculation revealed that only about 12% of students know the correct positioning of our national flag.
